Every Year UPSC Coducts Engineering Services Examination (ESE) for ME,CE,EE & EC category branches for Grade A officer recruitment in Railways & other Indian ministries. It is one of the most popular Entrance Test for Graduate Engineers and this year too UPSC conducted it's Preliminaries on 8th Jan 2017. This Year UPSC changed the pattern of exam and constituted a two stage pattern with stage 1 as prelims and stage 2 as mains. Stage 1 consisted a 200 marks portion of General Studies with 300 marks technical MCQ based paper.According to students General studies portion was challenging as it was all new and no slandered books or lecture notes were available to students. GATE is a yearly entrance exam being conducted by IIT's and IISC for various engineering branches such as ME,EC,EE,CS,CE etc for PSU recruitment and M.Tech admission every year. GATE exam consist of a total 100 marks objective based paper containing a total of 65 questions with 10 questions of Non Technical and rest 55 questions consisting Technical topics. GATE 2018 notification will be out by September 2018 and registration too will begin within a week of release of official notification.
